So you’ve spent the last couple of weekends in the fields and now you have a ton of dove ready for your eating pleasure. Let’s take a look at 3 of the tastiest (and easiest) dove recipes you’ll find.

 

 

1. Bacon Wrapped Maple Dove-What’s better than the taste of maple basted dove meat wrapped in bacon?

Ingredients:

  • cleaned dove breasts, de-boned
  • cream cheese, softened
  • jalapeno peppers, sliced
  • brown sugar
  • bacon
  • maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Soak the dove in water for 1 hour. Remove and pat dry.
  2. On one side of breast, place 1/2 tsp. cream cheese and a slice of pepper. Sprinkle on a pinch of brown sugar.
  3. Wrap entire thing in bacon and secure with toothpicks.
  4. Grill over medium heat until bacon is almost done. Turn as needed.
  5. Baste with maple syrup and continue to cook until bacon is done. Baste several times. Turn as needed.

 

2. BBQ Dove-2 of the world’s finest ingredients make this recipe, BBQ sauce and dove meat.

Ingredients:

  • 6 – 12 dove breasts
  • bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce

Directions:

  1. Wash dove breasts thoroughly with water.
  2. Place breasts on a heated grill at low to medium heat.
  3. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until done.
  4. When cooked, dip the breasts in the BBQ sauce.

 

3. Apple Smoked Doves-A surprising ingredient makes this recipe sweet and savory.

Ingredients:

  • 12 dove breasts
  • apple juice
  • salt
  • pepper
  • garlic powder
  • paparika
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • bacon
  • jalapeno peppers, sliced, optional
  • BBQ sauce, optional

Directions:

  1. Place the breasts in a 10×13 baking pan.
  2. Pour in the apple juice to cover the bottom about 1/2″ deep.
  3. Season breasts to taste with the slat, pepper, garlic powder and paparika.
  4. Place onion slices on top.
  5. Cover with bacon.
  6. Add the peppers and/or BBQ sauce if desired.
  7. Place in smoker on grill and cook until you are able to pull meat from the bone with a fork.
  8. Serve and enjoy.
